Have you dropped your Mike Tyson vape in water? If so, you need to act quickly if you want to preserve your device. Mike Tyson vapes aren’t waterproof. This isn’t simply a matter of water and wires not mixing. Every Tyson vape includes a lithium-ion battery, which presents a potential fire risk if water causes a short circuit or gets inside the battery cell.
Disposable vapes encounter a lot of rough treatment, and just about every person drops their vape in water at some point. If your Mike Tyson vape is wet, here’s what you need to do.
Stop and Evaluate the Situation
If you drop your Mike Tyson vape in water, take the following two steps immediately.
- Don’t use the device at all. If water is inside your Tyson vape and is bridging any electronic components, that’s a short circuit. Although all vapes have built-in short circuit protection, you can’t rely on that alone. Don’t try using the device until you’re sure that the inside is completely dry.
- Check for signs of overheating. Your Mike Tyson vape has short circuit protection, but it’s still possible for it to overheat if water either enters the battery cell or bypasses the protection circuit somehow. Check the device to see if there’s any potential of a dangerous situation. Does it feel hot? If there’s any sign of overheating, stop here and skip to the “Will My Tyson Vape Catch Fire?” section at the bottom of the article.
Remove the Water from Your Tyson Vape
Once you’re as sure as you can be that there’s no danger of a fire, drying your Tyson vape is the next step. Here’s what you should do.
- Dry the outside of the device thoroughly with a paper towel.
- Remove as much water as possible from inside the mouthpiece. You can do this by running a cotton swab or a twisted piece of paper towel down the hole.
- Remove excess water from inside the device. You can do this by holding a paper towel over the mouthpiece while blowing firmly through the air inlet at the bottom.
Once you’ve done these three things, you can test your Tyson vape to see if it works. If it does, you’re all set to continue vaping and should be able to use your vape normally until it runs out of e-liquid. If it doesn’t work, it’s possible that the water has caused permanent damage to the device. It’s also possible that you can revive your Tyson vape by removing the residual moisture, though, which we’ll discuss next.
Revive Your Tyson Vape if It Isn’t Working
Has anyone ever told you that you can sometimes revive a dead phone after dropping it in water by putting it in a bowl of dry rice for a few days? You can do something very similar with your Tyson vape, although it turns out that using rice to dry an electronic device isn’t actually such a great idea. Rice tends to scratch delicate components like the screen on your vape, and it can also form a cement-like sludge that’s difficult to remove.
Instead of drying your Tyson vape with rice, you need to use something that’s more absorbent and won’t break down and form a coating on your device. The ideal desiccant is silica gel, which is the thing that comes in the little packets marked “do not eat” inside a shoebox. Take a couple of those packets and seal them in a plastic bag with your Tyson vape for a day or two. Test your device after removing it from the bag, and you’ll hopefully find that it works.
Don’t have any silica gel? It’s also fine to use unscented cat litter. You can use dry rice as a last resort, but the results may not be ideal.

Important Note About Flavor Quality:
The e-liquid in a Tyson vape is stored inside a plastic container with an opening at the top. A tube is positioned inside the opening, and the tube leads out of the device through the mouthpiece. It’s necessary to have that design because the vapor wouldn’t have a way to get out of the device otherwise. The drawback, though, is that liquid can potentially get inside the e-liquid container if you drop your Tyson vape in water. If that happens, the device’s flavor probably won’t be normal even if you can get it working.
With that in mind, you should expect that if your Tyson vape is submerged in water for more than a second or two – and you’re concerned about flavor quality – you should probably plan to replace the device even if it still functions.
Will My Tyson Vape Catch Fire if I Drop It in Water?
If you’re reading this article, you’re probably well aware of the potential danger posed when a device with a lithium-ion battery gets wet. Battery fires happen every day, and they do sometimes happen with vaping devices although they’re very rare.
If you drop your Tyson vape in water, it’s highly unlikely that it will catch fire or explode. That’s because, like all high-quality vapes, your Tyson vape has an automatic safety routine that should shut the device down in the event of a short circuit. The safety routine can’t do anything if water gets inside the lithium-ion cell, though, and that’s why there’s still a small possibility of a fire.
If your Tyson vape feels hot or doesn’t smell right after you’ve dropped the device in water, you should immediately move the device to a fire-safe location to ensure your safety.
- If you’re indoors, put the device inside a cooking pot that can withstand high heat. Make sure that the pot isn’t positioned under anything that could potentially catch fire.
- If you’re outdoors, put the device on cement or on a patch of dirt. Once again, you want to be certain that the device isn’t near or below anything that could catch fire. You can also throw dirt on the device for extra containment.
Once you’ve done everything possible to ensure that any potential fire will be contained, waiting is the last step. You want to wait until your Tyson vape is completely cool, which means that the battery is dead and there’s no longer a risk of fire. At this point, you should dispose of the device in accordance with local ordinances.
